The Town of Marlboro is currently accepting proposals to expand/ broadband coverage in Town to the all unserved locations. An unserved location is defined as a location that does not have access to at least 25 Mbps download/3 Mbps upload speeds. The location does not need to be subscribing to this service, but the service must be available at the street location (State and Class 2, 3 and 4 Town Roads). The Town currently has very limited broadband access availability and speeds. According to the Vermont Public Service Department, as of December 31, 2018, 99% of the town does not have access to internet speeds that meet the current FCC definition of broadband - 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload. No locations in the town meet the Vermont Statewide Goal for every 911 business and residential location having a minimum speed of 100 Mbps downstream and 100 Mbps upstream (100/100) by 2024.
Most of the current town service is from one service provider (CCI) with some other providers supplying service for a handful of locations. VTel provides some wireless coverage. FirstLight offers limited coverage to businesses.
