Education and Certifications
The Fiber Broadband Association offers three types of professional certifications:
Certified Fiber to the Home Professional [CFHP]
Certification as a CFHP indicates a professional level of technical competence in fiber to the home technologies. Certification consists of demonstrating knowledge and familiarity with FTTH architecture, network design, deployment technology and operational skills. Click on the title above to learn more about the CFHP program.
Fiber-to-the-x Outside Plant Design [FTTx-OSP Design]
Certification consists of demonstrating knowledge and familiarity with FTTH Passive Optical Network (PON) and Active Ethernet (AE) architectures, Outside Plant design, and deployment technologies. Click on the title above to learn more about the FTTx-OSP program.
The Association offers a certification program for telecommunications network operators that connect their customers with 100% fiber.
At a time when growing numbers of consumers are becoming aware of the critical importance of all-fiber access to robust speed and connectivity, some network operators who do not deliver FTTH services have sought to leverage their partial use of fiber optic technology for a marketing advantage. This certification program is intended to assist our network operator members in assuring their customers that the service they are receiving is delivered over a “future-proof”, 100% fiber network.
The right to use the certification badge on subscriber equipment will be awarded by the Association to any network operator who belongs to the Association and whose installations meet our standard of fiber optic cable extending all the way to a terminal that is attached to (or located within) the home itself.

With this certification, telecommunications network operators offering FTTH have a means of emphasizing that they are using world-class, all-fiber technology to deliver the fastest Internet and most robust video services and other applications to their customers – and that their communities will benefit economically from the expansion of a next-generation broadband infrastructure.
