FOSA congratulates Dr. Kenichi Soga and the University of California, Berkeley on its $250,000 Competitive Academic Agreement Program award from PHMSA.
Dr. Kenichi Soga and the University of California, Berkeley received a $250,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) on August 17.
FOSA had previously called for government and the pipeline industry to work together to establish a pipeline safety test facility. Based on operator input, FOSA issued a concept paper suggesting a buried ‘flow-loop’ pipeline to emulate leak
“PHMSA deserves praise for taking significant steps toward enhancing the safety of pipelines, including extending leak detection requirements," said FOSA Chairman JJ Williams.
FOSA commended the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation for its passage of S. 2299, Protecting Our Infrastructure of Pipelines Enhancing Safety (PIPES) Act of 2019.
