Fiber Broadband Association Statement on LIFT America Act Hearing

In response to today’s Energy and Commerce Committee “LIFT America” hearing, the Fiber Broadband Association releases the following statement:

“The Fiber Broadband Association applauds Chairman Pallone and his colleagues for their leadership with the LIFT America Act, which would provide $40 billion for broadband deployment in unserved areas of the country.  But one thing is clear: rural residents, businesses and institutions will be permanently disadvantaged in the digital economy if they cannot access the same high performance, fiber-based broadband available in urban areas. Fiber is essential for 5G, the Internet Of Things and Smart City services — all of which are vital for rural areas. The LIFT America Act is a positive step in that direction and we look forward to working with Members of Congress to ensure rural Americans get the infrastructure they need to thrive.”
