(Bowling Green, Ky.) Bowling Green Municipal Utilities is pleased to announce capacity enhancements to its fiber optic system. BGMU Fiber now offers gigabit options to its lineup of commercial point-to-point and Internet services. Gigabit speeds are 100 times faster than typical ten megabyte services. Comparatively, downloading a 300 megabyte file would take almost three minutes to download with a 10-meg service, but only two seconds with a Gig connection.

BGMU Fiber owns and operates the only 100% fiber optic network in Bowling Green. Through that network, BGMU Fiber offers Internet service, point-to-point connections, telephone and co-location services to business and institutional customers in Bowling Green and Warren County. Now those services are offered at Gigabit speeds. As one of the few "Gig" cities in the Commonwealth, BGMU Fiber is committed to enhancing economic opportunities in our community.

About BGMU Bowling Green Municipal Utilities provides electricity, water, wastewater services and high speed commercial data services to the Bowling Green area. The utility serves approximately 29,000 electric customers, 20,000 water/wastewater customers and 550 commercial fiber customers. For more information, please visit our website,
